{"id":1705,"date":"2015-04-29T12:41:16","date_gmt":"2015-04-29T12:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dib.dk\/?p=1705"},"modified":"2022-03-02T14:46:19","modified_gmt":"2022-03-02T13:46:19","slug":"nyt-projekt-lanceret-i-indien","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dib.dk\/en\/nyt-projekt-lanceret-i-indien\/","title":{"rendered":"New project launched in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Just over three months after we received the final approval of the global project \u201cEvidence based advocacy for low-carbon, pro-poor sustainable\u201c Eco-Village Development \u201d(EVD) in South Asia\u201d Christian and Lykke went to India to start the project up with the partners involved.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Indian partners INSEDA and WAFD had planned an eventful week of project meetings in Delhi, Rishi Kesh and Haridwar, site visits to existing eco-villages in Ranichauri and visits to the local hospital in Chamba that has a wind turbine installed. In addition to the aforementioned partners, INFORSE from Denmark, CRT \/ N from Nepal, Grameen Shakti from Bangladesh, IDEA from Sri Lanka, AIWC from India and CANSA from India participated. Here, the partners were given the opportunity to present themselves and the different roles in relation to the project, we looked at the implementation plan and summarized the project's purpose and objective. Actually, we also had budgets, financial reporting and contractual issues on the agenda, but we soon had to realize that it was enough for optimistic planning on our part. On April 8, the trip went north by train to Haridwar and then the bus to Rishi Kesh, where we were installed at a hotel right next to the holy river of the Ganges. The sunset was supposed to be absolutely fantastic, but most of us missed it when we got started on the project talk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project partners had prepared presentations on the national situation in relation to development, climate, environment and relevant decision-makers in their respective countries, while Sanjay (CANSA) and Gunnar (INFORSE) gave a quick insight into the regional opportunities for low-energy solutions and the status of the international climate negotiations. It was really exciting to hear what opportunities and challenges the different partners face and to what extent low-energy solutions are being prioritized at national level. There is no doubt that, the main priority for decision makers is to provide access to energy and development, where reducing CO2 is just a side benefit. So we just have to push on with our low-energy solutions, which both help to develop the land, improve the living conditions of the local and reduce the countries' CO2 emissions.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visit to eco-villages<br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next two days we spent on site visits to the aforementioned hospital in Chamba and to existing island villages in Ranichauri, where WAFD and INSEDA have been working for a number of years. Both places had meetings with the locals and at the hospital the local press was also invited. The towns were 2-3 hours from Rishi Kesh and the drive was not for people with delicate stomachs, so we had to make a few stops along the way. But the view was amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the village of Guryali we met the volunteer women who have been involved in the eco-village project for a long time and who have become the project's first women. They were totally cool and had no trouble standing in front of the entire assembly and telling them what eco-solutions they had implemented, what challenges they had run into and what other initiatives they had initiated themselves. Among other things, one of the women had started drying vegetables and spices in a solar-powered 'dry house', which she could then sell. Part of what the women highlighted as a positive part of the project was that they experienced increased social recognition in the villages, as well as the personal satisfaction of providing a service for the benefit of the villages and its residents. However, it could be difficult to convince people to implement the solutions if some had not already tried it before, a dish-shaped solar collector for cooking. They had also tried beekeeping, but they had failed to keep the bees for a variety of reasons.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dib.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/solardryer-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1708\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dib.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/solardryer.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.dib.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/solardryer-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.dib.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/solardryer-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Display of a solar dryer in one of the villages.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before we turned our heads towards Rishi Kesh again, there was also just time for a game of cricket. However, the game lasted no more than a couple of throws as the batter knocked the ball down the mountain well, so the kids had to go out and look for their ball. Although a week is not a long time to start a project with seven partners who all have a lot of unresolved issues, the visit to the hospital and in the villages and the meeting with some of the people involved were well spent. It helped inspire our partners as well as a common frame of reference for what an island village in India might look like.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contracts and spices in the suitcase&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The whole project start-up tour ended in Delhi, where we signed the remaining contracts and concluded on the various discussions we have had along the way. Med en flok p\u00e5 20 personer kr\u00e6ver det en del forberedelse og t\u00e5lmodighed, og bare det at f\u00e5 taget et gruppebillede (hvor alle kigger den samme vej)&nbsp;var en st\u00f8rre udfordring. Projektm\u00f8de i Rishi Kesh Vi startede ud med det indledende projektm\u00f8de&nbsp;i Delhi den 7. april. Her fik partnerne mulighed for at pr\u00e6sentere sig selv og de forskellige rollefordelinger i forhold til projektet, vi fik kigget p\u00e5 implementeringsplanen og opsummeret projektet form\u00e5l og objektiv. Egentligt havde vi ogs\u00e5 budgetter,&nbsp;finansiel&nbsp;afrapportering&nbsp;og kontraktm\u00e6ssige sp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5l p\u00e5 dagsordenen, men vi m\u00e5tte hurtigt indse, at det nok var liiidt for optimistisk planl\u00e6gning fra vores side af.&nbsp;&nbsp;Den 8. april gik turen nordp\u00e5 med tog til Haridwar og efterf\u00f8lgende bus til Rishi Kesh, hvor vi blev installeret p\u00e5 hotel lige ud til den hellige Ganges flod. Solnedgangen skulle eftersigende v\u00e6re helt fantastisk, de fleste af os missede den dog da vi havde gang i projektsnakken.&nbsp; Projektpartnerne havde forberedt opl\u00e6g omkring den nationale situation i forhold til udvikling, klima, milj\u00f8 og relevante beslutningstagere i deres p\u00e5g\u00e6ldende land, mens Sanjay (CANSA) og Gunnar (INFORSE) gav et hurtigt indblik i de regionale muligheder for lavenergi l\u00f8sninger og status p\u00e5 de internationale klimaforhandlinger. Det var rigtig sp\u00e6ndende at h\u00f8re, hvilke muligheder og udfordringer de forskellige partnere st\u00e5r overfor og i hvor h\u00f8j grad lavenergil\u00f8sninger bliver prioriteret p\u00e5 nationalt niveau. Der er ingen tvivl om at, hovedprioriteten for beslutningstagerne er at skaffe adgang til energi og udvikling, hvor reduktion af CO2 blot er en sidegevinst. S\u00e5 vi skal bare skubbe p\u00e5 med vores lavenergil\u00f8sninger, der b\u00e5de er med til at udvikle landomr\u00e5derne, forbedre levevilk\u00e5rene for de lokale og reducere landenes CO2-udslip. Bes\u00f8g i \u00f8kolandsbyer De efterf\u00f8lgende to dage brugte vi p\u00e5&nbsp;sitevisits til&nbsp;det f\u00f8rn\u00e6vnte&nbsp;hospital i Chamba og til&nbsp;eksisterende \u00f8kolandsbyer i&nbsp;Ranichauri, hvor WAFD og INSEDA har arbejdet i en \u00e5rr\u00e6kke.&nbsp;Begge steder var der arrangeret m\u00f8der med de lokale&nbsp;og p\u00e5 hospitalet var den lokale presse ogs\u00e5 inviteret. Byerne l\u00e5 2-3 timers bjergk\u00f8rsel fra Rishi Kesh og&nbsp;k\u00f8returen var ikke for folk med sarte maver, s\u00e5 vi m\u00e5tte g\u00f8re et par stops undervejs. Men udsigten var fantastisk. I&nbsp;landsbyen Guryali m\u00f8dte vi de frivillige kvinder, som har v\u00e6ret involveret i \u00f8kolandsbyprojektet i l\u00e6ngere tid og som er blevet projektets forgangskvinder. De var total seje og havde ingen problemer med at stille sig op foran hele forsamlingen og fort\u00e6lle, hvilke \u00f8ko-l\u00f8sninger, de havde implementeret, hvilke udfordringer de var l\u00f8bet ind i&nbsp;og hvilke andre initiativer, de selv havde igangsat. Blandt andet var \u00e9n af kvinderne g\u00e5et i gang med at t\u00f8rre gr\u00f8ntsager og krydderier i et solcelledrevet &#8216;t\u00f8rrehus&#8217;, som hun s\u00e5 kunne s\u00e6lge videre. Noget af det kvinderne fremh\u00e6vede som positivt ved at v\u00e6re en del af projektet&nbsp;var, at de oplevede&nbsp;en \u00f8get sociale anerkendelse i landsbyerne, samt den personlige tilfredsstillelse at ud\u00f8ve en service til fordel for landsbyerne og dens beboere. Dog kunne det v\u00e6re sv\u00e6rt at overbevise folk om at implementere l\u00f8sningerne, hvis der ikke allerede var nogle, der havde pr\u00f8vet det f\u00f8r.Nogle af de l\u00f8sninger vi var rundt og kigge p\u00e5 var regnvandsopsamling,&nbsp;kompostering, biogasanl\u00e6g,&nbsp;\u00f8kologisk k\u00f8kkenhaver, drivhuse, t\u00f8rrehuse og en parabolformet solfanger til madlavning. De havde ogs\u00e5 pr\u00f8vet kr\u00e6fter med biavl, men de havde ikke form\u00e5et at holde p\u00e5 bierne af flere forskellige \u00e5rsager.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Inden vi vendte snuden mod Rishi Kesh&nbsp;igen var der ogs\u00e5 lige tid til et slag cricket. Dog varede spillet ikke mere end et par kast, da batteren slog bolden et godt stykke ned af bjerget, s\u00e5 b\u00f8rnene m\u00e5tte ud og lede efter deres bold.&nbsp;Selvom en uge ikke er lang tid til at starte et projekt op med syv partnere, der alle har en masse uopklarede sp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5l&nbsp;var&nbsp;bes\u00f8get p\u00e5 hospitalet og&nbsp;i landsbyerne og m\u00f8det med nogle af de involverede personer&nbsp;godt givet ud. Det var b\u00e5de med til at skabe inspiration hos vores partnere og en f\u00e6lles referenceramme for, hvordan en \u00f8kolandsby i Indien kan se ud. Kontrakter og krydderier&nbsp;i kufferten&nbsp; Hele projektopstarts turen sluttede af i Delhi, hvor vi fik underskrevet de resterende kontrakter og rundet af p\u00e5 de forskellige diskussioner vi har haft undervejs.
