In February, Paul Erik, Lykke and Christian traveled to Manila, Philippines. The goal was to end our joint partnership activities with our partner, Alterplan, which had been operating since April 2014. <\/em><\/strong>During the project period, we have worked among other things to strengthen DIB and Alterplan's competencies in relation to organizational structures, financial management, etc., and Alterplan has carried out a thorough screening process of possible partners to continue the project. The activities have contributed to the approval of a larger application, which we submitted in the fall of 2014. Our new 3-year project thus also had to be started, in continuation of the partnership activity, so there was plenty to address. <\/strong><\/em>

Meetings in Manila<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We started off with a series of meetings with Alterplan in Manila in the first week, ending with a large presentation of Alterplan's updated version of the disaster prevention manual - focusing on the involvement of public organizations. It was a great presentation with the participation of the 4 new local partners, including representatives from both local NGOs, civil society organizations and local authorities. In addition, the network members PHILSSA and NFR were present as well as the national authorities at HUDCC and DILG. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the trip took off and we traveled from Manila onwards to the Philippines. The whole trip lasted almost three weeks, with both DIB and Alterplan visiting the cities of Cebu, Legazpi, Ligao and Ubay. During the visits to these cities, we held a large number of introductory meetings, with information about the project content, Danish development assistance, training on methodological approaches to research and activities and much more. These meetings were attended by local partners, local residents from selected slums, local authorities and the press. The trip around the Philippines, in particular, gave DIB the opportunity to see the new project areas to be worked on over the next three years and to meet the local partners.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a great experience to meet people from the slums and gain a greater insight into the challenges they face on a daily basis. It is our great hope that we will be able to continue to contribute to the development of disaster prevention and improvement of living conditions for the many poor and vulnerable people in the Philippines for many years to come.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I februar rejste Paul Erik, Lykke og Christian til Manila, Filippinerne. M\u00e5let var at afslutte vores f\u00e6lles partnerskabsaktiviteter med vores partner, Alterplan, der havde v\u00e6ret i gang siden april 2014. I projektperioden har vi blandt andet arbejdet p\u00e5 at styrke DIB og Alterplans kompetencer i forhold til organisationsstrukturer, \u00f8konomistyring mm., samt Alterplan har udf\u00f8rt en grundig screening process af mulige samarbejdspartnere til videref\u00f8rsel af projektet. Aktiviteterne har bidraget til godkendelsen af en st\u00f8rre ans\u00f8gning, som vi indsendte i efter\u00e5ret 2014. Vores nye 3-\u00e5rige projekt skulle s\u00e5ledes ogs\u00e5 s\u00e6ttes i gang, i forl\u00e6ngelse af partnerskabsaktiviteten, s\u00e5 der var nok at tage fat p\u00e5.  M\u00f8der i Manila Vi startede ud med en r\u00e6kke m\u00f8der med Alterplan i Manila i den f\u00f8rste uge, hvor vi sluttede af med en stor pr\u00e6sentation af Alterplans opdaterede version af manualen til katastrofeforebyggelse \u2013 med fokus p\u00e5 inddragelse af folkelige organisationer. Det var en flot pr\u00e6sentation med deltagelse af de 4 nye lokale samarbejdspartnere, herunder repr\u00e6sentanter fra b\u00e5de lokale NGO’er, civilsamfundsorganisationer og lokale myndigheder. Derudover var netv\u00e6rksmedlemmerne PHILSSA og NFR  til stede samt de nationale myndigheder ved HUDCC og DILG. Rundrejse med sitevisits Derefter tog turen fart og vi tog fra Manila og videre rundt p\u00e5 Filippinerne. Hele turen varede knap tre uger hvor b\u00e5de DIB og Alterplan bes\u00f8gte byerne Cebu, Legazpi, Ligao og Ubay. Under bes\u00f8gene i disse byer afholdte vi en lang r\u00e6kke introducerende m\u00f8der, med information omkring projektets indhold, dansk udviklingsbistand, tr\u00e6ning ift. metodiske tilgange til research og aktiviteter og meget mere. I disse m\u00f8der deltog b\u00e5de lokale samarbejdspartnere, lokale indbyggere fra udvalgte slumomr\u00e5der, lokale myndigheder og presse. Rejsen rundt p\u00e5 Filippinerne, gav is\u00e6r DIB muligheden for at se de nye projektomr\u00e5der, som der skal arbejdes med de n\u00e6ste tre \u00e5r samt at m\u00f8de de lokale partnere.   Det var en stor oplevelse at m\u00f8de mennesker fra slumomr\u00e5derne og f\u00e5 et st\u00f8rre indblik i de udfordringer de st\u00e5r overfor til dagligt.
