Det var f\u00f8rste bes\u00f8g i forbindelse med vores nye projekt&nbsp;Enhancing Rural Livelihoods in Nepal, og form\u00e5let med bes\u00f8get var at styrke CN&#8217;s viden om \u00f8kologisk landbrug, og udvikle en strategi for organisationens arbejde indenfor b\u00e6redygtig udvikling.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training was based on the local area and from the first day there was great interest and commitment from the participants. We visited the village of Phallapani, where we talked to the local people about challenges to their farming. They said that they have problems with monkeys who eat their crops, and they still have failed to find a solution to the problem. The population also said that they have been using artificial fertilizers for some time, which has actually resulted in their crops being attacked more often by insects and diseases.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dib.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/feltbeoegphallapani-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1590\" width=\"245\" height=\"327\"\/><figcaption>We walked up and down the mountain on narrow paths when we were on a tour of the village of Phallapani. We looked at the landscape and the potentials for agricultural development.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With input from the local population, the talk was now on how to solve the problems. Jesper taught CN in various organic farming methods, and we could constantly relate it back to our vast knowledge of the local area. During our visit to the village, we also saw opportunities to make rainwater harvesting ponds in recesses in the soil. Water shortages are also a major problem in the project villages, and since it rains only a few months of the year in Nepal, it could contribute positively to the drought periods - both in terms of crops, but also as drinking water for humans and animals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the training, Jesper shared his many years of experience from his previous work in Nepal. He provided input on how to work with caste differences and agricultural groups, which is very relevant to our project. CN's new knowledge in organic farming has already been passed on to the villages, and the population has great motivation to continue working on the concept in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In each village there has also been established an agricultural group, which should be the focal point of the project's agricultural activities, as well as act as a forum for sparring, where others can ask for advice on agriculture.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I starten af april var Camilla fra Nepalgruppen p\u00e5 bes\u00f8g hos CHILDREN-Nepal (CN) sammen med milj\u00f8konsulent Jesper Saxgren. Befolkningen fortalte ogs\u00e5 at de har brugt kunstg\u00f8dning igennem noget tid, hvilket faktisk har resulteret i at deres afgr\u00f8der oftere angribes af insekter og sygdomme.&nbsp; Med inputs fra den lokale befolkning gik snakken nu p\u00e5, hvordan problemerne kunne&nbsp;afhj\u00e6lpes. Jesper underviste CN i forskellige \u00f8kologiske landbrugsmetoder, og vi kunne hele tiden relatere det tilbage til vores store viden fra lokalomr\u00e5det. Under vores bes\u00f8g i landbyen s\u00e5 vi ogs\u00e5 muligheder for at lave regnvands-opsamlingsdamme i fordybninger i jorden. Mangel p\u00e5 vand er nemlig ogs\u00e5 et stort problem i projektlandsbyerne, og da det kun regner nogle m\u00e5neder af \u00e5ret i Nepal, ville det kunne bidrage positivt til t\u00f8rkeperioderne \u2013 b\u00e5de ift. afgr\u00f8der, men ogs\u00e5 som drikkevand til mennesker og dyr.&nbsp; Under tr\u00e6ningen delte Jesper ud af sine mange \u00e5rs erfaringer fra sit tidligere arbejde i Nepal. Han gav inputs til hvordan man kan arbejde med kasteforskelle og landbrugsgrupper, hvilket er meget relevant for vores projekt.&nbsp;CNs nye viden indenfor \u00f8kologisk landbrug er allerede bragt videre til landsbyerne, og befolkningen har stor motivation for at arbejde videre med konceptet i praksis.
