One of the UN's 17 global goals for sustainable development is the goal for gender equality. All over the world, women are subject to discrimination and inequality. This is also the case in Nepal, where women in particular are exposed to inequality. They often have a considerable workload that is far greater than that of men. Women's work often involves bringing firewood, grass and water to the house, while at the same time being responsible for the household, such as childcare, cooking and cleaning. This means that the working day of women is twice as long as the working day of men. The migration of men from Nepal to overseas has also significantly increased the workload of women, as rural women have to assume responsibility for family farming.

Improving rural life<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the project \"Enhancing Rural Livelihoods\"<\/em>, which DIB and CHILDREN-Nepal (CN) started on 1 February 2018 with funds from CISU in Denmark, we have also focused on improving the conditions for women. Particular attention has been paid to the issue of gender equality in order to ensure cooperation and equal participation of men and women in the project - and, of course, to improve the lives of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to improve the living conditions of rural families. This is done, among other things, by training the locals in sustainable agriculture to secure their food supply and to increase their earning potential. The project targets the villages of Phallapani and Lewade, as well as Gunjara near Pokhara in Nepal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of increasing the income of project participants and especially of women is crucial to women's prosperity and therefore also to the success of the project. Budhimaya Dahal has been fortunate to have the help of our partner CN. It has allowed her to build a greenhouse. With the guidance of CRT \/ N (our partner in the South Asia projects<\/a>) she has learned how to grow tomatoes therein. Budhimaya has also received agricultural training, which has given her new knowledge and skills, as well as optimized her work process. Now she dreams of being able to increase her income by selling her organic products.

Ecology, independence and self-esteem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The project has enabled the participants in the project to grow organic crops and improve their agricultural production, while giving women like Budhimaya Dahal more knowledge of agriculture, thereby increasing her independence and self-esteem, which is necessary for her to improve her position in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gender equality in Nepal will not happen overnight, but through initiatives such as this project, we can help support women and boost development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et af FN\u2019s 17 verdensm\u00e5l for b\u00e6redygtig udvikling er m\u00e5let om ligestilling mellem k\u00f8nnene. Overalt i verden er kvinder udsat for forskelsbehandling og ulighed. Dette er ogs\u00e5 tilf\u00e6ldet i Nepal, hvor is\u00e6r kvinder p\u00e5 landet er udsat for ulighed. De har ofte en betydelig arbejdsbyrde, som er langt st\u00f8rre end m\u00e6ndenes. Kvinders arbejde best\u00e5r ofte i at hente br\u00e6nde, gr\u00e6s og vand til hjemmet, og samtidig er de ansvarlige for husholdningen, s\u00e5som b\u00f8rnepasning, madlavning og reng\u00f8ring. Det betyder, at kvindernes arbejdsdag er dobbelt s\u00e5 lang som m\u00e6ndenes arbejdsdag. Migrationen af m\u00e6nd fra Nepal til udlandet, har ogs\u00e5 \u00f8get kvindernes arbejdsbyrde betydeligt, idet kvinderne i landdistrikterne m\u00e5 p\u00e5tage sig ansvaret for familiens landbrug. Forbedring af livet p\u00e5 landet I projektet Enhancing Rural Livelihoods, som DIB og CHILDREN-Nepal (CN) startede den 1. februar 2018 med midler fra CISU i Danmark, har vi ogs\u00e5 haft fokus p\u00e5 at forbedre vilk\u00e5rene for kvinderne. Der er lagt s\u00e6rligt v\u00e6gt p\u00e5 ligestillingssp\u00f8rgsm\u00e5let for at sikre samarbejde og lige deltagelse af m\u00e6nd og kvinder i projektet \u2013 og naturligvis for at forbedre kvindernes liv. M\u00e5let er at forbedre levevilk\u00e5rene hos familier i landdistrikterne. Dette g\u00f8res blandt andet igennem at tr\u00e6ne de lokale i b\u00e6redygtig landbrug for at sikre deres f\u00f8devareforsyning og for at de kan \u00f8ge deres indtjeningsmuligheder. Projektet er m\u00e5lrettet landsbyerne Phallapani og Lewade, samt Gunjara t\u00e6t ved Pokhara i Nepal. M\u00e5let om at \u00f8ge projektdeltagernes indkomst og is\u00e6r kvindernes er afg\u00f8rende for kvindernes velstand og derfor ogs\u00e5 for projektets succes. Budhimaya Dahal har v\u00e6ret heldig at f\u00e5 hj\u00e6lp fra vores samarbejdspartner CN. Det har givet hende mulighed for at bygge et drivhus. Med vejledning fra CRT\/N (vores partner p\u00e5 projekterne i Sydasien) har hun l\u00e6rt at dyrke tomater deri.  Budhimaya har ogs\u00e5 modtaget landbrugstr\u00e6ning, hvilket har givet hende ny viden og f\u00e6rdigheder, samt optimeret hendes arbejdsproces. Nu dr\u00f8mmer hun om at kunne \u00f8ge sin indkomst ved at s\u00e6lge sine \u00f8kologiske produkter. \u00d8kologi, selvst\u00e6ndighed og selvv\u00e6rd Projektet har muliggjort, at deltagerne i projektet kan dyrke \u00f8kologiske afgr\u00f8der og forbedre deres landbrugsproduktion, samtidig med at det har givet kvinder som Budhimaya Dahal mere viden om landbrug, og derved \u00f8get hendes selvst\u00e6ndighed og selvv\u00e6rd, hvilket er n\u00f8dvendigt for at hun kan forbedre sin position i samfundet.
